SEAToday.com, Jakarta - An independent UN commission on Wednesday (6/12) released a report of investigation on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel. The report concluded Israel authorities and Palestinian armed groups have conducted war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Israel is found be responsible for a number of crimes including war crimes of starvation, crimes against humanity of extermination, attacking civilian and civilian objects, sexual violence, torture and inhuman treatment both in occupied Palestine and on its military operation in Gaza. Meanwhile, the military wing of Hamas and six other Palestinian armed groups are found responsible for, among others, attacking civilians and taking hostages.
The report is UN’s first in-depth investigation of the events that took place on and since October 7, 2023. It is based on interviews with victims and witnesses, verified open-source items, satellite imagery, and forensic medical reports, despite Israel’s obstruction of the investigations that prevent the commission’s access to the territory.
