SEAToday.com, Jakarta-President Joko Widodo has officially dismissed inactive Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman, Firli Bahuri, by signing a Presidential Decree on his dismissal on Thursday (12/28).
Presidential Special Staff Coordinator, Ari Dwipayana, stated on Friday (12/29) that there were three considerations in the Presidential Decree. First, Firli's resignation letter dated December 22, 2023. Second, a letter from the KPK Supervisory Board. Third, based on Article 32 of Law No. 30 of 2002 concerning the KPK, in which the dismissal of KPK leaders is stipulated through a Presidential Decree.
Previously, Firli had submitted a letter of resignation as KPK chairman before being found guilty of severely violating the KPK code of ethics by the KPK Supervisory Board regarding a corruption case involving former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo. For this violation, the board asked Firli to resign from his position.
