SEAToday.com, Jakarta - On Friday (6/14), President Joko Widodo issued a decree establishing a task force dedicated to eradicating online gambling.
This is stated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 21 of 2024 on the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force. As outlined in Article 13, the task force will be operational from the date of issuance of the Presidential Decree until December 31.
Headed by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto, the task force comprises 26 members. These members represent various government bodies, including the Ministry of Religion, Ministry of Education, Attorney General's Office, Indonesian National Armed Forces, and Indonesian National Police.
The formation of this task force underscores the government's firm commitment to eradicating online gambling, a practice deemed disruptive to society.
