SEAToday.com, Jericho-The Palestinian city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank names a street after Aaron Bushnell to honor him, the U.S. Air Force member who self-immolated in support of Palestine. In Jericho, Bushnell’s extreme act is seen as the most powerful expression of grassroots solidarity.

At the street’s unveiling ceremony on Sunday (3/10) Jericho's Mayor Abdul Karim Sidr paid respect to Bushnell saying he had “sacrificed everything” for Palestinians despite them not having ties. “What we share is a love for freedom and a desire to stand against these attacks (in Gaza)”, Abdul said.

Aaron Bushnell died after he set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. as an act of protest to the attack in Gaza. He declared that he would “no longer be complicit in genocide” then he shouted “Free Palestine” repeatedly while being engulfed in fire.

Israel’s offensive in Gaza has killed more than 31,000 people, the majority of them women and children, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-run territory. (DANTI/DKD)
