SEAToday.com, Kuala Lumpur - McDonald's Malaysia sued pro-Palestinian group, Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Malaysia for MYR6 million (USD1.3 million) over their boycott call boycott towards companies supporting Israel, Friday (14/30).
The company stated that it "does not support nor condone the current conflict in the Middle East''. Furthermore it stated to respect and understand that boycotting was an individual decision, but it should be “based on facts and not false allegations”. The company is suing for alleged defamation.
BDS Malaysia, part of the global BDS movement launched by the Palestinians, has called for boycott against several western brands allegedly complicit with Israel’s atrocities which have killed over 20,000 Palestinians. In response, the group said to "categorically denies" the accusation.
