SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia added more athletes who have successfully qualified to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The latest additions come from judoka Maryam March Maharani and runner Lalu Muhammad Zohri.
NOC Indonesia revealed Maharani managed to qualify through the Asian continental quota qualification in the women's -52kg number after winning bronze in the Warsaw European Open 2024. The Executive Board of the Indonesian Judo Association (PB PJSI) said that before the competition Maharani was ranked 6th in Asia. Her chances are bigger after her victory, given that judokas to compete at the Olympics are ranked in the top 10 in Asia.
Meanwhile, the Executive Board of the Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI) stated that runner Zohri managed to qualify through the universality place quota allocation route. This quota allows NOCs that fail to pass their athletes in a branch to send one of their best men and women athletes.
With this latest addition, the number of Indonesian athletes who qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics tallied up to 27.
