SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Communications and Informatics Minister Budi Arie Setiadi plans to set the minimum fixed broadband speed in Indonesia at 100Mbps. This plan was announced on Thursday (1/25).

He also said that the internet is now a basic need, so a policy will be made that requires operators to sell fixed broadband with a minimum speed of 100Mbps. According to him, Indonesia's current internet speed is still low compared to other Southeast Asian countries, at 24.9Mbps.

He also believes that internet speed is needed to support the digital economy and government.

In this regard, Minister Budi will call all cellular operators and the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) to discuss the optimization of internet speed.
