SEAToday.com, Monaco-Ferrari’s Formula 1 (F1) driver Charles Leclerc ended the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix with a home victory. He became the first home winner of F1’s showcase race since Louis Chiron raced around the city streets in 1931.
The thrilling victory on Sunday (5/27) marked Leclerc's maiden podium finish in Monaco after six attempts. The race was interrupted by a first-lap crash, eliminating a significant portion of the field. However, Leclerc had already established dominance with two pole position starts.
Leclerc’s Monaco win ends years of frustration at his home race by claiming pole position at his third attempt.
Leclerc stated, “No words can explain this. It means a lot, it’s the race that made me dream of becoming an F1 driver.”
McLaren’s Oscar Piastri finished second and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr third. Red Bull’s championship leader and 2023 Monaco winner Max Verstappen finished sixth.
