SEAToday.com, US - Hollywood actress Shannen Doherty died on Saturday (7/13) local time at the age of 53. The actress, who played Brenda Walsh in the popular television series “Beverly Hills, 90210”, died from breast cancer that she had been suffering from for nine years.
Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane said in a statement to PEOPLE “It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease”.
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017. But in 2019, the cancer returned and spread to her brain.
Despite having breast cancer, Doherty was known to have great enthusiasm for her recovery.
